Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 22 (ANI): From the ancient Buddhist heritage of Sarnath to the mesmerising Ganga Aarti at Namo Ghat, a Japanese delegation experienced the spiritual and cultural richness of Kashi during its visit to Varanasi on Saturday.

The delegation received a grand welcome at Hotel Taj Ganges upon its arrival in the city before setting out to explore two of Varanasi's prominent cultural and spiritual landmarks.

During the visit, the members were briefed about the site's history, the museum and the religious and historical significance of the Buddha Stupa.

The serene surroundings and deep Buddhist heritage of Sarnath left a strong impression on the Japanese visitors.

The delegation members took numerous photographs near the Buddha Stupa, capturing memories of their visit to the historic site.

Their journey through Kashi's spiritual landscape continued at Namo Ghat, where they witnessed the grand Ganga Aarti on the banks of the Ganga.

The chanting of mantras, ceremonial rituals and the illuminated riverfront created an atmosphere that deeply moved the visitors. The delegation members expressed their appreciation for the spiritual and cultural heritage of Kashi.

The visit offered the Japanese delegation an opportunity to experience two distinct but deeply connected facets of India's cultural heritage -- the Buddhist legacy of Sarnath and the centuries-old spiritual traditions associated with the Ganga in Kashi.

The delegation's visit also reflected the longstanding cultural and spiritual connections between India and Japan, particularly through their shared Buddhist heritage.

From the quiet grandeur of the Buddha Stupa at Sarnath to the vibrant chants and rituals of the Ganga Aarti, the Japanese visitors witnessed the contrasting yet complementary traditions that continue to define Kashi's cultural identity.

The experience provided the delegation with a glimpse into the city's enduring spiritual character and its place as one of India's most significant centres of faith, culture and heritage. (ANI)
