Tata Motors, the homegrown auto maker on Wednesday officially entered into the premium hatchback segment by launching the all-new Altroz car in India. Apart from the premium hatch, the car maker also launched 2020 Tiago hatchback, 2020 Tigor compact sedan and facelifted Nexon SUV. The premium hatchback gets a starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the XE petrol variant. The new Altroz is based on Tata's Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture ensuring absolute safety of the passengers. Tata Motors is also offering company made customisation for the Altroz hatchback across all trim levels starting from Rs 25,000. The new Tata Altroz comes in five exterior tones - Downtown Red, Midnight Grey, Avenue White, High Street Gold & Skyline Silver.

The exterior design of the hatchback is underlined by sporty grille upfront with dual chamber projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch laser cut alloys, piano black ORVMs, C-Pillar mounted rear door handle, integrated spoiler, black roof contrast and much more. Dimensionally, the premium hatchback measures 3990mm in length, 1775mm in width and1523mm in height. Inside the cabin, the hatchback gets a cockpit inspired interiors highlighted by floating island dashboard design, classic satin finish dashboard, leather wrapped gear knob, metal finish inside door handle and more. The car comes with gold standard of safety which comprises of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corning Stability Control, reverse parking camera, ISOFIX camera, voice alerts and more.

Mechanically, the 2020 Altroz hatchback is offered in both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor is a 1.2L, three-cylinder Revotron mill that is tuned to make 86PS @ 6000 rpm against 113Nm @ 3300 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel engine is a 1.5L, four-cylinder Revotorq oil burner capable of churning out 90PS & 200Nm of power figures. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

As far as the prices are concerned, the Tata Altroz is priced from Rs 5.29 lakh for the XE petrol variant and goes up till Rs 9.29 lakh for XZ(O) diesel model (All Prices Pan India). The new Tata Altroz will take on Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and others in the premium hatchback segment.
