Bajaj, the Chakan-based two-wheeler manufacturer on Thursday officially showcased the upcoming Bajaj Chetak e-scooter in Pune. The electric scooter was put on display at the completion of the 'Chetak Electric Yatra' at its corporate office in Akurdi wherein the Yatra was felicitated by Mr Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto. The company announced at the event that the Chetak scooter would be retailed via KTM dealerships across India. Additionally, the company also revealed that the bookings for its first electric scooter would commence from January next year. The company will also be launching the Chetak scooter by next month in Pune. The scooter gives reminiscent of the original Chetak, as it sports retro-styling with smooth lines and bigger body panels. The e-scooter also flaunts modern design, contoured seat, multi-spoke wheel, six exciting colours and much more.

On the feature-front, the electric avatar of Chetak will get horseshoe-shaped LED headlamp with DRLs, feather-touch electronic switches and sequential LED blinkers, a large digital instrument panel, glove box and more. Powered by a 4kW motor, the scooter will get two riding modes – Sport and Eco, offering a range of 85km and 95km respectively. The scooter comes equipped with an IP67 rated high-tech Lithium-Ion battery with NCA cells that can be charged through regular household 5-15 amp electrical outlet.

As far as the prices are concerned, Rajeev Bajaj - Chairman, Bajaj Auto mentioned that the Bajaj Chetak would be priced somewhere in between Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). So, we speculate the scooter might retail in India around Rs 1.4 lakh. Expect some New Year fireworks from Bajaj with the launch of Chetak e-scooter.
