Mahindra & Mahindra, a homegrown SUV maker has officially launched the refreshed avatar of new Mahindra XUV500 facelift in India today. Priced at Rs. 12.32 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Mahindra XUV500 gets new bold design, new updated interiors and new 2.2-litre mHawk 55 diesel engine. The company is also planning to launch 3 new products - S201, U321 MPV and Rebadged Rexton. The new Mahindra XUV500 comes with 2 new color options - Crimson Red and Mystic Copper. The new Mahindra XUV500 gets new bold design complemented by new radiator grille with chrome inserts, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, new rear profile, new tail lights and more. On the inside, the new Mahindra XUV500 now sports a piano black interiors highlighted by soft touch dashboard, leather seats and multi-functional steering wheel. In terms of features, the refreshed avatar is now loaded with start-stop button, automatic climate control, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBS, rear parking camera with sensors, panoramic sunroof, hill descent control, Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense and Emergency call and more. As far as the engine specifications are concerned, the newly launched Mahindra XUV500 is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 2.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that can easily develop maximum power of 140 bhp with 320Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a 6-speed AT gearbox. On the other hand, a 2.2-liter mHawk155 turbocharged diesel unit is also on offer. The unit comes with 6th generation electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger (EVGT). The engine is capable of making 153 bhp @ 3750 rpm along with 360 Nm of peak torque @ 1750-2800 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed synchromesh manual gearbox, and an Aisin sourced 6-speed automatic unit. The newly launched Mahindra XUV500 gets a starting price of Rs. 12.5 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV competes against the likes of Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and Tata Hexa.
