On the mechanical front, Tata Altroz is likely to come with three BS6 compliant engine options. Interestingly, we could be seeing the car in two petrol and one diesel avatars. The petrol engines could be turbocharged and naturally aspirated versions of the 1.2-litre petrol mill whereas the diesel unit could be lifted from Tata Nexon, i.e. 1.5-litre oil burner. We can expect, Tata Motors to incorporate both manual and automatic drive train options on the new Altroz. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the powertrain as of now.
When launched, Tata Altroz will compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. As far as the pricing is concerned, Tata Altroz is likely to be priced somewhere in between Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8. 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
