Tata Motors Price Hike: Commercial Vehicle Prices Up by 1% From October 1
Tata Motors is raising commercial vehicle prices by up to 1 per cent from October 1 to offset rising input costs (its 3rd hike in FY27 after April and July). Backed by strong August CV sales (44,411 units, up 49 per cent y-o-y), the adjustment affects trucks, buses, and pickups. 'The price increase will differ depending on the vehicle models and variants,' the company said.
Tata Motors has announced a price hike of up to 1 per cent across its commercial vehicle portfolio starting October 1, marking the automaker's third commercial vehicle pricing adjustment of fiscal year 2027 amid persistent input cost pressures.Β Targeted adjustments ranging up to 1 per cent across the commercial vehicle lineup are designed to absorb mounting commodity and input inflation, with exact increments varying by model and variant, the company stated.
Revision Details and Applicability
- Effective Date: October 1.
- Scope: Entire commercial vehicle (CV) lineup, covering trucks, buses, small commercial cargo vehicles, and pickups.
- Quantum: Varies by specific model and variant; model-wise breakups have not been publicly detailed.
- Primary Driver: Mitigating ongoing inflation in raw materials and general manufacturing input costs, reports Tata Motors.
FY27 Pricing Trajectory in Context
The October revision follows two prior tactical increases in the commercial vehicle segment earlier in the fiscal year:
- April 1, 2026: Up to 1.5 per cent increase.
- July 1, 2026: Up to 2.5 per cent increase (partially offset by geopolitical/commodity pressures),
- October 1, 2026: Up to 1 per cent increase.
Passenger vehicle pricing managed under separate portfolios has similarly seen selective upward adjustments earlier in the year across major industry players like Maruti Suzuki and Tata passenger lines.
Market Backdrop and Demand Momentum
The pricing adjustment arrives against a backdrop of resilient demand recovery across freight and infrastructure sectors. Tata Motors reported a 49 per cent year-on-year surge in total domestic and international CV sales, reaching 44,411 units in August 2026 (up from 29,863 units a year prior). Domestic medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MH&ICV) sales rose 31 per cent to 17,531 units, reflecting steady fleet replacement activity and industrial momentum.
