Tata Nexon AMT from the house of Tata Motors first broke covers at the Auto Expo earlier this year. After showcasing the Nexon AMT at the biennial motor show, the homegrown automaker is focusing on introduce the same in the country. Expected to be launched in the country by next month, the AMT derivative comes with minimal changes to distinguish between the manual avatars of the car, though most of the features, design and powertrain options remain the same. The main underlines of the AMT derivative are projector headlamps with DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, wearable key, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs and more. Moreover, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags are offered as standard across the lineup. The SUV also gets 3 driving modes - Eco, City & Sport along with hill assist feature and creep mode. On the mechanical front, the powertrain options on the Nexon AMT remains the same. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre Revotorq turbocharged unit that makes 110 PS of max power @ 5,000 with peak torque of 170 Nm @ 1,750-4,000 rpm. The diesel unit, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre Revotorq turbocharged diesel engine capable of delivering max power of 110 PS @ 3,750 rpm against the peak torque of 260Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. Transmission duties on the AMT variant will be carried out by 6-speed AMT unit whereas the manual derivative is already on sale with 6-speed manual transmission. Expected to launch sometime next month, the new Tata Nexon AMT is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Tata Nexon AMT will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport AT, Maruti Vitara Brezza, and Mahindra TUV300 AT in the sub-compact SUV space.
