Canara Bank ATM Charges Revised: Free Transactions Reduced and Fees Increased Starting September 1
Canara Bank reduced its regular savings account ATM free transactions from six to five per month. Cash withdrawals and insufficient-fund decline charges increased to INR 23 plus GST. Green PIN regeneration fees dropped to INR 5 plus GST. In a shift lowering costs for cardholders, Canara Bank has reduced the fee for Green PIN regeneration past the free limit.
Canara Bank has implemented a revised schedule of ATM transaction charges, reducing the monthly free transaction limit for regular savings account holders while increasing fees for financial transactions and declined requests.
Revised Free Transaction Limits
Under the updated guidelines, regular savings bank account holders are now limited to five free transactions per calendar month at Canara Bank ATMs, down from the previous limit of six. Senior citizens are exempt from this reduction, maintaining their allowance of eight free monthly transactions at bank ATMs. For cardholders using other banks' ATMs, caps continue to vary by location, allowing three free transactions in metro areas and five in non-metro locations.
Adjusted Fees for Extra and Failed Transactions
Once the monthly free quota is exhausted, customers will face higher costs for specific ATM operations:
- Cash Withdrawals: The fee for cash withdrawals - including Interoperable Cash Deposit/Withdrawal (ICCW) via UPI - at Canara Bank ATMs has increased from INR 20 plus GST to INR 23 plus GST per transaction. The new rate aligns with the Reserve Bank of India’s permitted ceiling of INR 23.
- Declined Transactions: The penalty for transactions failing due to insufficient funds has been raised from INR 17 plus GST to INR 23 plus GST. This revised charge applies to failed attempts at both Canara Bank and external ATMs beyond the free limit.
- Non-Financial Services: Charges for non-financial operations, such as balance inquiries beyond the free threshold at Canara Bank ATMs, remain unchanged at INR 5 plus GST.
Relief on Green PIN Regeneration
In a shift lowering costs for cardholders, Canara Bank has reduced the fee for Green PIN regeneration past the free limit. The charge drops from INR 23 plus GST to INR 5 plus GST for multiple card variants, including Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select, and World cards.
