The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has urged establishments to use the Employees' Enrolment Campaign (EEC) 2026 to bring eligible workers who remained outside EPF coverage under the social security system. The one-time campaign, notified on June 29, 2026, covers eligible employees who were left out of EPF coverage between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2026. Employers can enrol eligible workers under the scheme until October 31, 2026.
What Is The EPFO Employees' Enrolment Campaign 2026?
The EEC 2026 provides employers with a one-time opportunity to regularise past omissions and enrol workers who should have been covered under the Employees' Provident Fund during the specified period.
The campaign is aimed at extending EPF, pension and insurance benefits to eligible employees while helping establishments address gaps in their past compliance records.
EPFO EEC 2026 Last Date
Employers have until October 31, 2026 to complete the enrolment of eligible employees under the campaign.
EPFO has encouraged establishments to review their employment and wage records and identify workers who may have remained outside EPF coverage during the eligible period. EPFO’s EEC 2026 Offers One-Time Chance to Enrol Eligible Employees Left Outside EPF Net Since 2009.
Who Is Eligible Under The Scheme?
The campaign covers employees who remained outside EPF coverage between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2026.
However, the employee must be alive and continuing in employment with the establishment on the date of declaration. Employers are required to identify workers who meet these conditions before submitting their declarations.
What Relaxations Are Available?
The campaign provides certain relaxations to make it easier for establishments to regularise their past records.
One of the specified reliefs is the waiver of the employee's share of contribution where it was not deducted earlier, subject to the conditions applicable under the campaign. EPFO PF Withdrawal Rules Changed: How Much Money Can Members Withdraw From Their PF Account?
The initiative is therefore designed to reduce some of the compliance burden associated with correcting past omissions while bringing eligible workers into the formal social security system.
How Can Employers Enrol Workers?
Employers have been asked to follow the prescribed digital process for registration and contribution payments.
First, establishments should review their employment and wage records and identify eligible employees. A Universal Account Number (UAN) based on face authentication is then required for each declared employee through the UMANG app.
After enrolment, statutory contributions are to be remitted through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) platform.
EPFO's member portal also states that direct UAN allotment through the portal has been discontinued and that Aadhaar-based face authentication through UMANG is now used for UAN generation.
Why The Campaign Matters
The initiative is intended to expand formal social security coverage among workers who may have been left outside the EPF system despite being eligible.
EPFO administers three major social security schemes covering provident fund, pension and insurance benefits.
For employers, the campaign provides a structured mechanism to address historical gaps in coverage. For eligible workers, enrolment can provide access to statutory provident fund and related social security benefits.
EPFO has also been conducting awareness and outreach activities involving employers, workers, contractors and other stakeholders to improve awareness about the campaign's requirements.
What Employers Need To Do
Establishments seeking to use the campaign should review their records, identify eligible employees and complete the prescribed online enrolment and contribution process before the deadline.
The last date for the EPFO Employees' Enrolment Campaign 2026 is October 31, 2026.
Employers and workers can access EPFO's official digital services through its website, including services related to EPF, pension, insurance, employer compliance and UAN generation.
