Speaking on the Untriggered by AminJaz podcast, Mukhija revealed that she had applied to a single university in New York after falling in love with the city during previous travels. Following the episode's release, she shared the video on her Instagram Stories with the caption, "So… I don't live in India anymore," confirming her change of residence.

Mukhija explained that she has transitioned back to student life, moving into a university dorm to pursue higher education. While acknowledging that the move is intimidating given that her established career, close friends, and support system remain in India she framed the transition as an opportunity to build a life outside content creation.

During the interview, Mukhija detailed how her fascination with New York City influenced her decision to leave India.  "I have travelled quite a lot, and when I landed in New York, I was like, I really want to live here," Mukhija said during the podcast. "There's something about this city; it's so fast, everyone is so well-dressed, the food is great, and I love the architecture. I have seen New York in every single web series that I love, and so I always wanted to live there. So I applied to only one college in New York, and now I got in."

Beyond academic pursuits, Mukhija emphasised a desire to expand her social circle beyond the influencer industry, stating that returning to college allows her to meet new people in a completely different environment.

Scrutiny and Social Media Fatigue

The relocation follows a challenging period for Mukhija, who faced substantial online backlash and boycott campaigns following her appearance on the comedy show India's Got Latent. She admitted that the continuous cycle of being targeted online took a toll on her career and mental well-being.  "I am tired of the constant cycle of being cancelled and making a comeback," Mukhija noted, pointing out that online backlash directly impacts creator livelihoods by halting brand partnerships. 'Let Them Suffer Now': Why Supreme Court Imposed INR 3 Lakh Fine on Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia.
