A period drama is in the order for Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. After marking a remarkable presence in crime drama 'Raid', he will be now seen as historical character of 'Chanakya'. Known for his amazing economic strategies and political skills, this man made a deep impact on the Indian readers through books and comics. Now watching his story on the big screen will be even more interesting. Neeraj Pandey, who recently directed 'Aiyyary' will helm this ambitious project.

The 49-year-old star tweeted, "Looking forward to playing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History, directed by @neerajpofficial.@RelianceEnt @FFW_Official @PlanC_Studios @ShitalBhatiaFFW."

Speaking of Chanakya, he was an Indian teacher, philosopher, economist, jurist and royal advisor in fourth century BC. Also called as Kautilya or Vishnugupta, he has written the ancient Indian thesis 'Arthashastra'. He was also a chief advisor to chief advisor to both emperors Chandragupta and his son Bindusara.

Ajay will also be seen in Total Dhamaal next and a film with Luv Ranjan. A period drama generally takes a lot of research and prep and thus it might want him to dedicate more hours to this project. The story of Chanakya is widely known and hence it's perfect execution is a must. The flick will be bankrolled Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks’ Plan C Studios.
