Bollywood’s Box Office Khiladi, Akshay Kumar had an impressive 2017. With a string of successful films like Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the 50-year-old superstar proved why he is the most bankable star of the Hindi cinema. As a matter of fact, he seems more dedicated and continue with his red-hot form at the box office. Furthermore, a glance at the list of Akki’s upcoming movies reflects his intention of doing content-driven projects and challenging roles. These films are not only promising from box office collection’s point of view but also cement Akshay Kumar's image as that of a versatile actor.

In fact, the fans will reportedly be treated with nearly four movies releasing in 2018. First up in the movie calendar is R Balki-directed Padman slated for a release on January 26. That will be followed by 2.0, the sequel of 2010 blockbuster, Robot. Herein, Akshay is essaying the character of main antagonist taking on none other than legendary Rajinikanth. Not just for the coming year, there are several films that are in talks with Akshay in the lead. Here’s a compilation of all the Akshay Kumar movies, both confirmed and tentative to look forward to in the future.

1. Padman

First up in the number of exciting movie releases is Padman. The much-anticipated film directed by renowned filmmaker, R Balki will see the actor don the character of Arunachalam Muruganantham aka India's Menstruation Man. After Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay is doing another movie based on a social issue but unlike TEPK, Padman will be a biographical drama. Actresses Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor will be seen in pivotal roles. The film will release on the Republic Day i.e. January 26.

2. 2.0

If Padman is the journey of the sanitary napkin revolutionary, 2.0 will see Akshay as a crow! No, we are not kidding. Like a chameleon, the actor transforms into any role effortlessly. He will be seeing battling Rajinikanth aka Doctor Vaseegaran and Chitti in 2.0, the highly ambitious sequel of 2010 blockbuster sci-fi Tamil film Enthiran (dubbed as Robot in Hindi). Akshay is the main villain by the name, Doctor Richard aka Crow Man and oh-boy, his look is the stuff of nightmares. S. Shankar-helmed 2.0 will release in April 2018.

3. Gold

After Padman, Gold will be the second biopic for Akshay Kumar in 2018. He will portray the role of Balbir Singh Sr., the legendary Hockey player to win Olympic gold thrice. The biographical sports drama is directed by talented filmmaker, Reema Kagti. The movie will also mark the Bollywood debut of TV actress, Mouni Roy, who is paired opposite Akshay. Gold will release on August 15, 2018, worldwide.

4. Mogul

In the year of biopics, Akshay Kumar is leading the race by doing his third biographical film, Mogul. Based on the life of Gulshan Kumar, the founder of T-Series music label, the film is directed by Subhash Kapoor. While initially, Akshay had shared the first poster of Mogul to confirming coming on board, lately there have been reports suggesting the actor to walk out the project due to creative difference. Well, only time will tell if Akshay is indeed seen in Mogul or not.

5. Ikka

Akshay is teaming up with AR Murugadoss for Ikka, the Hindi remake of Tamil film, Kaththi. This is the second collaboration between the actor and director, who had earlier worked together in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. The Khiladi actor will be essaying a double role, in Ikka, one of a thug and other of a post-graduate. A source was quoted saying in a leading publication, "Murugadoss is presently re-scripting the film to fit a more North Indian set-up but Akshay will be seen in a double role." The final script, filming and release date of Ikka is yet to be decided.

6. Kesari

One of the most talked about project of Akshay Kumar is Kesari made in partnership with Karan Johar. The big-budgeted film was earlier to mark the collaboration of Akshay with Salman Khan and Karan as producers. However, the Tiger Zinda Hai actor backed out of the assignment. Kesari is based on on the Battle Of Saragarhi, which took place in 1897. The film will reportedly feature actress, Parineeti Chopra in the role of Akshay’s wife. Kesari is directed by Anurag Singh with the released dates locked for Holi 2019.

7. Housefull 4

One of the most successful franchises in Bollywood, Housefull will return with its fourth film in Diwali 2019. The upcoming instalment will once again be directed by Sajid Khan. Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh, who have been mainstays of the film series are back on the board. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has confirmed Housefull 4 to be based on the reincarnation theme. He has also claimed the comic caper to be shot on the lines of Indian blockbuster film, Bahubali. Well, our fingers are crossed.

If you think these are the only movies Akshay will be seen in, then you are so wrong. The grapevine suggests several projects are in pipeline starring the multifaceted actor as the protagonist. Every director and producer are keen to work with the Bollywood’s most profitable star. Apart from the confirmed movies mentioned above, there are other films with Akshay in the pipeline. Renowned filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, who has worked with Akshay in Special 26 and Baby, will once again join hands to make Baby 2 (sequel of Baby) and Crack, a psychological thriller. There is also buzz of Akshay Kumar starring in the remake of 1998’s comedy film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan along with Sidharth Malhotra. Well, Akkians (a moniker for AK Fans) are desperately waiting for all the films to release ASAP.
