The sequel of the 2012 Akshay Kumar film, Rowdy Rathore, might finally be happening, as producer Shabina Khan has confirmed that the movie is in the scripting stage. But don't get too excited already because of the talks about Rowdy Rathore 2 have been a damper in the past. Let dive right into what Shabina has said at the latest. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the producer talked about Raghava Lawrence's return to Akshay's Laxmmi Bomb as the director. She also gave an update on Rowdy Rathore 2 while she was at it, saying, "We are in the process of writing Rowdy Rathore 2 right now and inshallah, it will feature Akshay in the lead.” 

But the problem is this is not the first or even the second time, the producers have tried to create a hype around the sequel. In June 2014, two years after the film's release, co-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali said that the sequel will roll out "very soon", as per a report by Hindustan Times. That did not happen, obviously. Then in May 2018, Shabina Khan had said that the script of Rowdy Rathore is ready in an interview with IANS. She had added that she is waiting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali to approve the script. Our best guess is that SLB did not like the script forcing writers to begin from scratch, bringing us to square one. So, we are going to save our excitement for the Rowdy sequel for a time when the makers can confirm that it is indeed happening.
