Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, beneficiaries will receive monthly financial assistance of INR 2,500. To promote structured financial planning alongside immediate support, the Delhi government has introduced two distinct disbursement mechanisms:
- Option One: Beneficiaries receive INR 1,000 through a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for immediate everyday needs, while the remaining INR 1,500 is directed into a recurring or fixed deposit.
- Option Two: The entire monthly allocation of INR 2,500 is funnelled directly into a recurring or fixed deposit account to accumulate savings over a designated lock-in period.
Massive Public Response and Registration Figures
The initiative has drawn an overwhelming response since applications opened on August 1. Official data indicates that over 9.13 lakh women registered on the portal, resulting in more than 6.52 lakh finalised applications submitted for administrative verification. The scheme is tailored for women aged between 21 and 60 years who represent the eldest eligible female in their households. Additional criteria require a minimum 10-year residency status in Delhi, a valid voter ID, and an annual family income below 2.5 lakh rupees, while excluding income-tax payers, government employees, and larger households.
