Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15 is winning hearts and how! The Anubhav Sinha directorial is based upon the on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, which prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. The film focuses on real-life incidents which also include 2014 Badaun gang-rape allegations and 2016 Una flogging incident. So, how did the critics find this flick? Here is their take on it. Here's LatestLY's Review of Article 15: A Brilliantly Cast Ayushmann Khurrana Pricks Your Conscience in Anubhav Sinha’s Gripping Social Drama.

News 18: In this tale of prejudice, crime, and humanity, Sinha and co-writer Gaurav Solanki do well in keeping it simple. There is a controlled elegance to their writing which is both charming and sharp. Article 15 is remarkable in that it does not pontificate. It merely holds up the mirror to a society still entangled in age-old caste politics that absolutely overrides the modern ideals of liberty and equality. Stellar supporting performances by the ensemble of Kumud Sharma, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and M Nasser pack the necessary punch. Leading man Ayushmann Khurrana’s performance is refined.

Deccan Chronicle: The relevant political subtext is the most interesting aspect of the film which surprisingly works well as unexpected deadpan comedy. The interaction between smart and unpredictable characters is the main focus and certain situations are rightly peppered with winning wit and humour. The good acting intensifies the drama, with Ayushmann Khurrana's remarkable performance making a worthy centerpiece. It's rare to see a protagonist who's so gently human, so righteously patriotic, and so believable. Overall, 'Article 15' is a gripping social thriller anchored by excellent performances and a strong script that's rich in social commentary.

Filmfare: Ayushmann Khurrana takes it a while to get going but slowly sinks his teeth in the character and doesn't let go. We're accustomed to seeing him in comedy films and it was good to watch him in a serious avatar. Watch the film for its riveting performances and its underlying message that even after 70 years as a free country, we’re still shackled to the chains of caste. Article 15 offers you the truth about today’s society without pulling any punches.

Firstpost: The entire cast seems to be playing a round of “Who Is The More Brilliant Actor?” Each eloquent sentence spoken in Article 15 feels like an arrow released from a taut bowstring by an ace archer, cutting through the bullshit and past the play-it-safe ramblings dominating the ongoing liberal discourse to say it like it is and say what needs to be said. Watching this film is an overwhelming emotional experience.

Clearly, Ayushmann has managed to win the hearts yet again after AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho. The film right now competes with Shahid Kapoor- Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh. While the latter is holding a strong command on the ticket windows as of now, it has to be seen whether Article 15 manages to pull the audience too.
