The trailer of John Abraham's upcoming film Batla House dropped today. The film helmed by Nikhil Advani is based on the real-life operation of Batla House. The film revolves around the encounters of alleged Indian Mujahideen terrorists in the Batla House locality of the national capital. John has been recently seen in films based on the themes of nationalism. The actor was last seen in Romeo Akbar Walter, before that he has also starred in films such as Satyamev Jayate and Parmanu. Batla House stars John in a challenging role as he steps into the shoes of the DCP whose character is based on real-life personality. The Batla House trailer is receiving a positive response from John's fans who are happy with his character's moustached look and also the dialogues of the film. What is the Batla House Incident?

Officially known as Operation Batla House, the encounter took place on September 19, 2008 in Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. The encounter killed two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists. Encounter specialist and Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was also killed during the incident. The incident remains disputed since doubts were raised against the police version of the encounter after journalists and activists visited the site.

Who is John Abraham Playing in the Film?

John Abraham plays the role of DCP Sanjay Kumar Yadav in the film. Yadav is the recipient of eight President Gallantry Awards. The actor while speaking about stepping into the shoes of Yadav said, "The responsibility is even bigger as this is the first time I am playing someone who is still serving. If he (Sanjeev Kumar) thinks I am not good enough, he can even shoot me. So, I better be good at portraying him in the film.” John spent a good amount of time with Yadav to learn his ways and did not take any cinematic liberties to play the character on-screen. Yadav led the major operation and hence his character is important.

Who has Directed Batla House?

Batla house has been directed by Nikhil Advani who is not new to this genre. The director has before directed films like D-Day and has also produced John Abraham's Sataymev Jayate.

Supporting Cast of Batla House:

Batla House also stars Mrunal Thakur, Prakash Raj, Manish Choudhary and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles. The film also has a special song by Nora Fatehi who was also a part of "Dilbar" song in John Abraham's Satyamev Jayate.

Batla House jointly produced by Advani's Emmay Entertainment and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, is slated to release this Independence Day on 15 August. It will clash with both Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal and Prabhas-starrer action entertainer Saaho at the box office. Season 2 of Netflix's first Indian Original, Sacred Games, is also releasing on the same day.
