We had our apprehensions when we learnt that O Saki Saki would be remade for Batla House. Today, as the song hits the internet, we are not very pleased with it. Nora Fatehi, of course, sizzles in the dance number and is the biggest redeeming factor of the song. The rehashed music by Tanishk Bagchi doesn't really live up to the standard set by the original number. But then again, most of the song remakes by Tanishk have been criticised but have gone on to become cult hits. Let alone the Dilbar remake, which still remains a chartbuster. Neha Kakkar's voice has the sultriness but lacks that Sunidhi Chauhan-level of energy which this number required.

O Saki Saki is the remake of the hit Musafir song by the same name. The original had come out in 2004, but the song is still afresh. At clubs, weddings sangeets, house parties; the original song manages to find its place to be played and danced to even today. So, it didn't make much sense to remake a song which still sounds so fresh. The original song had featured Koena Mitra in the video. The actress has already slammed the new version as a 'mess' on her Twitter handle.

But let us remind you that many publications slammed Dilbar remake as well. But such was its popularity, that it went on to become the most Googled song of 2018. So, in the end, the audience is the real king. We will leave the decision about O Saki Saki to you.

It is really about time Bollywood gave song remakes a well-deserved, well-required rest. Every second movie doesn't need to rehash a beloved melody.

Batla House features John Abraham in the lead role. The movie directed by Nikhil Advani is based on the Batla House Operation of 2008, an encounter against IM terrorists. The movie is due to come out on August 15.
