Dammam Airport Attack Amid Rising Regional Tensions

The incident comes amid a series of attacks targeting Saudi Arabia's airports and energy infrastructure. Earlier in October, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was also targeted in an attack that killed an Indian national and injured several others. Separately, an Indian national was injured in a drone-related incident at Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oilfield on Wednesday. Saudi authorities said air defences intercepted a drone targeting the facility, but falling debris caused casualties and damage.

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for some earlier attacks on Saudi airports and energy facilities. However, Saudi authorities had not publicly confirmed who was responsible for the latest Dammam airport attack at the time of reporting.

Indian Embassy Monitors Situation, Assures Assistance

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said it was in contact with the relevant authorities and the affected families to establish further details about the Dammam incident. The embassy has also urged Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, follow instructions issued by local authorities and take shelter indoors during aerial attacks. It has cautioned against filming or sharing footage of drone or missile interceptions and impact sites, citing possible legal consequences under Saudi law.

The circumstances surrounding the Dammam airport attack, including responsibility for the incident, remain under investigation.
