Shahid Kapoor returns to the silver screening once again this year with Batti Gul Meter Chalu. After playing a mighty King in Padmaavat, it would be interesting for his fans to see him play a lawyer and seek justice for his friend in this second outing. While critics are not really in awe of this film, will Shahid's fandom help it win the box office race? Chances are bleak since its first-day collection aren't great either. Sasha's courtroom drama collected Rs 6.76 crores on its day one and trade analysts are wondering if the collections will improve substantially on the weekend. Batti Gul Meter Chalu Movie Review: Shahid Kapoor Tries Too Hard in This Farcical Social Drama

Popular trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to reveal BGMC's first day collections. He wrote, #BattiGulMeterChalu has a low Day 1, despite partial holiday... Biz will have to multiply two-fold or three-fold on Day 2 and Day 3 for a respectable weekend total... Fri ₹ 6.76 cr. India biz. #BGMC.

With Rajkumarr Rao's Stree still going strong at the box office and Varun-Anushka's Sui Dhaaga releasing next week, Batti Gul Meter Chalu has just one week to mint some great numbers. Will the movie continue to face stiff opposition from Stree or will it gain momentum in coming days? It's hard to tell so let's wait and watch.
