We had earlier reported that Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa is getting a sequel. The big news though has been that Kartik Aaryan and not Akshay Kumar has been roped in for the sequel of the film. Producer Bhushan Kumar has already greenlighted the project and we now hear, the sequel has found its director too. The 2007 original was directed by Priyadarshan and also starred other actors such as Paresh Rawal, Ameesha Patel and Shiny Ahuja in key roles. The horror-comedy had much of its lighter moments coming from Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav's characters. WAIT… WHAT?? Ayushmann Khurrana To Replace Kartik Aaryan in The Sequel of Bhool Bhulaiyaa?
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the sequel will now be helmed by director Anees Bazmee who is known to have helmed comedy films such as Welcome Back and Mubarakaan. Horror-comedy is not a new genre in Bollywood in fact, Amar Kaushik's Stree's success is proof of the fact that the genre can churn out enough money at the box office with the right intent. Kartik Aaryan is currently the new blue-eyed boy of B-town and is not new to the comedy genre. The actor's fan base is ever-increasing at the moment it looks like Bazmee has a money-spinner on his hand.
The director recently wrapped up with the shooting of his upcoming film Pagalpanti which stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Illeana D'Cruz in lead roles. Bazmee will take on to the Bhool Bhulaiyya sequel next. The Priyadarshan film was a remake of the Tamil film Chandramukhi which starrer Rajinikanth in a lead role. It will be interesting to see what the sequel has to offer. Did Kartik Aaryan Replace Virat Kohli as the Face of Manyavar?
Kartik Aaryan in the meantime will begin working on this film after finishing the Pati Patni Aur Woh remake. The actor has recently wrapped up the shooting of Love Aaj Kal's sequel. He also has Collin D’Cunha’s Dostana 2 with Janhvi Kapoor in the works.
