On the occasion of 'Jhulan Utsav' on the evening of Hariyali Teej celebrated on August 2, BJP MP and actress Hema Malini performed at Sri Radha Raman Temple in Vrindavan. The BJP MP is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and is known for her graceful moves. As for the festivities, Hariyali Teej is celebrated with great fervour by Hindu women, mainly in the northern states of India. The festival especially holds importance in the Indin states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The former actress first performed a dance on Ganesh Vandana. The program was organized at Shri Radha Raman Mandir, and later, Hema Malini also performed on 'Govind Ki Yamuna Tere Dhir Sameer Hatha Ekam Vanamali'. For the uninitiated, Hariyali Teej is an important festival for women. It is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Parvati and her holy union with Lord Shiva. To celebrate the festival, women wake up early, get dressed up in colourful clothes and maintain a fast for their husbands' good health and long marital life.
