Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan stole the spotlight as a host at the Screen Awards 2026 held in Mumbai on April 5, with his signature Sakht Launda style of roasting the Bollywood film fraternity. Zakir shared hosting duties with Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, fellow comedian Sunil Grover, and journalist Saurabh Dwivedi. Zakir's comic set talked about the film industry's culture of "success parties", while targeting the biggies for fake-congratulating director Aditya Dhar on his massive box office run of Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge aka Dhurandhar 2. The comedian made a joke about the happenings in Lyari in the film affecting the Bollywood areas of Bandra and Juhu in Mumbai. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Box Office Collection Day 18: Ranveer Singh’s Thriller Nears INR 1,000 Crore Mark in India.

Zakir Khan unabashedly mocked Bollywood, saying "Dhurandhar se sabki jali toh haiDekhiye bum film mein phute Lyari mein par dhuan udaa hai Bandra se Juhu mein ((Everyone is jealous of Dhurandhar's success. Zakir poked fun at the industry's fake social media posts for Dhurandhar 2, which has crossed INR 1,600 crore worldwide. Zakir said, “Kitne hee congratulatory post aap daal dein, kitni hee (Instagram) Stories daal dein, kitne hee interview mein aap bol dein 'my favourite film', magar sach toh yeh hai ki Dhurandhar se sabki jalti toh hai (No matter how many congratulatory posts you put up, no matter how many (Instagram) Stories you share, no matter how often you say in interviews that it’s your favourite film - the truth is, everyone is jealous of Dhurandhar).”

Zakir Khan Questions Bollywood's 'Success Parties'

The comedian, who recently announced a break from his stand-up acts, also made fun of the Bollywood success parties that are held for movies that haven't performed well at the box office. He said that in his 10 years of living in Mumbai, he has seen success parties for films that no one has watched, yet somehow the box office collection crosses INR 300 crore. "It’s like the producer and the caterer decide the film is a hit even if the crew hasn’t seen it," he said.

Zakir also highlighted the "dichotomy" in Bollywood, where some superstars demand eight vanity vans and the producers oblige, while the same producers do not release the payments of spotboys on set.

Zakir also made fun of co-host Alia Bhatt, but that was all part of the script on stage and the actress played along.
