Khushboo Patani Says She Joined Protest Incognito
According to Khushboo, she chose to attend the CJP's 'Chalo Sansad' march without revealing her identity. In her Instagram Stories, she said the protest site felt safe despite the large turnout. She claimed there were lakhs of participants, but women did not feel unsafe, and added that several men walked with their hands raised above their heads to avoid any unwanted physical contact.
Claims Students Remained Peaceful Despite Lathi Charge
Praising the students, Khushboo said she admired the younger generation for maintaining peace throughout the protest. She said: “Students were in lakhs and law enforcement was in hundreds. They could have done anything given the examples of so many protests in the world. But our Gen Z students chose peace." She further alleged: "They took the lathi blows but did not raise their hands. Some got hit on their heads and legs. Girls were beaten badly. I myself was running, and I also got some of that. Everyone ran after they saw what was happening."
Instagram Post Alleges Mishandling
Along with a video, Khushboo wrote on Instagram:
"Ghera pahle phir peeta humlog ko …. This was supposed to be a peaceful protest. So many students were injured. This is not democracy. They are so young, so young. I have never seen such peaceful protest in my life. They were so well behaved everyone. Me and my friends have faced so much of mishandling. There was literally no need to beat the bash out from them."
Protest Witnessed Clashes
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had called for a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament after protesters had been camping at the site for nearly a month.
Thousands gathered for the march, but the demonstration witnessed clashes after security personnel attempted to stop protesters moving towards Parliament. The incident involved a lathi charge and the use of tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
Several film personalities, including Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, Bhumi Pednekar, Huma Qureshi, Preity Zinta, Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi, Sutapa Sikdar, and Diljit Dosanjh, also expressed support for the youth-led protest.
