We had earlier reported about how Irrfan Khan is having two movies coming out in two countries this week. While his new movie Blackmail is coming out in India this week, his 2017 hit Hindi Medium gets a release in China. And it has got a really good start there. As per industry observer Ramesh Bala, the movie has got a really good start in China with opening day collections of Rs 24.31 crores. He has tweeted, "#HindiMedium makes an excellent debut in #China Box office..Day 1 Gross is $3.74 Million [₹ 24.31 Crs]"

With these opening figures, Irrfan Khan's film has beaten the opening day collections of Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 14 crores) and Dangal (Rs 14.67 crore). This shows that Chinese audiences are more interested in the content of the movie rather than which star's face is plastered in the poster (though they do have a soft corner for Aamir Khan). Currently, Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar beats them all with the opening day collections of Rs 43.65 crore, though it is Dangal who has the highest collections in China for an Indian movie. With Baahubali 2 also expected to release in a few weeks' time, it should be a really good time for Indian cinema to make hay while the sun shines in China.

Hindi Medium is directed by Saket Chaudhary and produced by T-Series. The movie also stars Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Suri, Neha Dhupia and Amrita Singh. Hindi Medium is a satirical take on the education system in the country and the pains the parents have to go through to get admissions for their kids.

Hindi Medium was one of the best reviewed movies of last year, while also earning a good profit at the box office in India. It also did good during the award seasons, winning the Best Film awards while Irrfan Khan walked away with the Filmfare award for the Best Actor.
