If we have to believe Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan, the lead stars of The Zoya Factor, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen next in a cameo in their upcoming movie. If you have read the novel on which the movie is based, written by Anuja Chauhan, you would know that Shah Rukh Khan has a really cheeky appearance in the book. Sonam's character, Zoya Solanki, who is a client servicing executive for an ad agency meets Shah Rukh Khan during a campaign and was eager to work with him. But another assignment makes her drop this and then meet the Indian Cricket team, setting the wheels of the plot in motion. The Zoya Factor Song Lucky Charm: Missing Shah Rukh Khan? Here's Him Narrating The Story of Zoya in Sonam Kapoor's Film! Watch Video.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan had once bought the rights of the novel with the intentions to adapt it as a movie, which, for some reason, never happened. But, in any case, we are going to see him in the movie. And what's more, he has also provided the narration for the first song of the film, "Lucky Charm."

While tweeting the song, Sonam Kapoor called Shah Rukh Khan her 'lucky charm', as she wrote, "Want to know who my lucky charm is, the one and only @IamSRK!! Team #TheZoyaFactor loves you! Check out the first song LUCKY CHARM!" It is definitely a sweet caption, even though we are not sure in which capacity Sonam has made this claim. If we go back the memory lane, Sonam's debut movie, Saawariya had clashed with Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om at the box office, and we know what happened next.

Anyway, even if we consider Shah Rukh Khan's cameo as a 'lucky charm', history has shown us that it isn't always the case with the films where he appeared in special appearances. Most of the films where he had special appearances have tanked at the box office. As much as we like Shah Rukh Khan, there is some kind of rotten luck with him and his cameos. From The Zoya Factor to Brahmastra, Every Film Shah Rukh Khan Is Expected or Rumoured to Make a Cameo In!

Here's a look at all the films where Shah Rukh Khan had made a cameo and how they fared at the box office.

Dushman Duniya Ka

Box Office Status: Flop

In this film directed by the late Mehmood, Shah Rukh Khan makes one of his most awkward cameos. He is seen in the getup of Mehmood's character in Gumnaam, and appears in the first 15 minutes of the movie, playing the friend of Jeetendra's character. Salman Khan also has a cameo in the movie.

Hey Ram

Box Office Status: Flop

Kamal Haasan's underrated alt-history movie was heavily promoted in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan's face in the posters. In reality, King Khan only had a guest appearance in the movie, though his role of Amjad Khan is one of the most overlooked but brilliant performances of the actor.

Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega

Box Office Status: Semi-Hit

Shah Rukh Khan's character in this Salman Khan romcom was a continuation of his character, Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It was one of the most surprising factors of the film, though the way it is shoehorned in the narrative is something that we are not a fan of!

Gaja Gamini

Box Office Status: Flop

In the late artist MF Hussain's directorial debut, which was more a visual treatment than a movie, Shah Rukh Khan has appeared as a war photographer and romanced Madhuri Dixit in a song.

Saathiya

Box Office Status: Hit

Shah Rukh Khan and Tabu, paired up for the first time, appeared in cameo roles for one of Saathiya's best scenes. They had taken over the roles that Arvind Swamy and Khushboo Sundar had done in the original. PS: Sorry, the video of the scene is not available on the net anywhere.

Box Office Status: Flop

Shah Rukh Khan appears in the final scene of this Arshad Warsi and Mahima Chaudhary dramedy. Actually, his character is seen throughout the film as a passenger who is seen sleeping on the bench of an airport, where the movie is set, after his flight is delayed. It is only in the climax that we realise that it is the superstar himself.

Kaal

Box Office Status: Average

Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora had appeared in a special song for this supernatural thriller, starring Ajay, Devgn, John Abraham. Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta and Esha Deol. The popularity of the song, "Kaal Dhamaal" helped the film get a good buzz at the box office, though Kaal didn't perform as per expectations.

Box Office Status: Flop

Shah Rukh Khan has appeared as a narrator in this anthology film, directed by critic-turned-filmmaker Khalid Mohammed. He also has a song picturised on himself.

Shakti: The Power

Box Office Status: Flop

Like with Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, SRK reprised another popular character of this in Sajid Khan's comedy, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in the lead. This time, it was the turn of Raj from the evergreen blockbuster, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and he appeared during the song, "Mast Kalandar".

Box Office Status: Flop

This Rakesh Roshan production, starring Irrfan Khan and Arshad Warsi, had Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan feature in the same title song in two separate occasions in the movie.

Bhoothnath

Box Office Status: Average

Shah Rukh Khan had an extended cameo in this supernatural family entertainer, where Amitabh Bachchan had a cameo. The movie pairs him up with Juhi Chawla after a long time.

Luck by Chance

Box Office Status: Flop

Considered as the best cameo Shah Rukh Khan has ever done, the actor plays himself in a very crucial scene in Zoya Akhtar's underrated but excellent debut film. Not just SRK, the movie features other popular actors in cameos like Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, at al. Hrithik Roshan has an extended cameo in the movie, which is one of the riskiest roles that the actor has done.

Dulha Mil Gaya

Box Office Status: Flop

The makers of Dulha Mil Gaya try to recreate the Main Hoon Na chemistry of Sushmita Sen and Shah Rukh Khan, by roping the latter for a guest appearance. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't very good for either the stars or the audience.

Shahrukh Bola "Khoobsurat Hai Tu"

Box Office Status: Flop

In 2013, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerji came together to make an anthology movie that celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema. While Shah Rukh Khan was not a part of the narrative, he appeared in the tribute song towards the end, along with a motley of other stars.

Bhoothnath Returns

Box Office Status: Flop

Shah Rukh Khan reprised his character in the Bhootnath sequel, though his screentime was much reduced.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Box Office Status: Hit

Karan Johar's sentimental ode to friendship and one-way love featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan had a single scene but memorable cameo in the film, and his line about 'ek tarfa pyaar' is one of the most quoted dialogues in recent times.

Tubelight

Box Office Status: Average

Shah Rukh Khan's last cameo was in this Salman Khan film, where he had played the role of a magician. While the cameo was much-hyped, bringing both the Khans together on the screen after a long time, Tubelight as a movie turned out to be a disappointment, despite being a Rs 100 crore grosser.

If you go by the above trend, most of the film where SRK had a cameo didn't work at the box office. So we have to ask the question in another way, can Sonam Kapoor and The Zoya Factor expel the jinx surrounding Shah Rukh Khan's cameo roles? Apart from The Zoya Factor, Shah Rukh Khan will also be seen in cameos in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, and hopefully, in Brahmastra and Dabangg 3 too.
