Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are currently the talk of the town. The two pretty ladies have been in the limelight ever since they decided to enter Bollywood. While Sara’s first film Kedarnath released last Friday (December7), Janhvi graced the big screen back in July with Dhadak and since then the two have been compared on various occasions. Since Bollywood is a competitive space and actors and actresses will be pitted against each other time and again whether one likes it or not. But having said that, it’s unfair to compare Sara’s debut film Kedarnath with Janhvi’s first film Dhadak and here’s why. Kedarnath Movie Review: The Real-Life Tragedy Takes a Backseat In Sushant Singh Rajput-Sara Ali Khan's 'Titanic' Inspired Love Story.

Even before Dhadak’s trailer released, the film had generated great buzz as it was the remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat and that worked in the favour of Janhvi’s first film to a large extent. Kedarnath, on the other hand, isn’t a remake of any film and hence didn’t have any kind of pre-buzz to fall back on.

While Sara’s Kedarnath has released in approximately 1500 plus screens in India, Dhadak released on a much wider scale with 2235 screens in India. Dhadak Movie Review: Ishaan Khatter - Janhvi Kapoor's Romantic Saga is a Watered-Down, Pointless Remake of Sairat.

Unlike Dhadak, Kedarnath faced many obstacles before finally releasing in the theatres. The film first got delayed because of the makers dragging Sara to the court and later Kedarnath got embroiled in the whole love-jihad controversy which ultimately resulted in the film being banned in Uttarakhand.

Being a Dharma production, Karan Johar left no stone unturned to promote Dhadak and also his leading lady. Apparently, Rs 15 crore was spent on marketing alone. Sara, on the other hand, got a raw deal in comparison to Janhvi as the makers of Kedarnath spent a large chunk of money in just making the film considering they had to incorporate VFX.

Lastly, one cannot do away with the fact that there was a sympathy wave during Janhvi’s debut release as the talented actress had lost her mother and late superstar Sridevi just a few months before Dhadak’s release.

We let you decide if this comparison between Sara and Janhvi is fair or not. Comment and tell us.
