In a candid conversation with Raj Shamani, Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor opened up about a traumatic experience from her teenage years: discovering a morphed image of herself on a p*rn site when she was only 15 years old. The revelation highlights the long-standing issue of digital exploitation and the evolving threat of AI-generated content.
The actor recounted that the incident occurred during an IT class at school, a time when she was still a minor and not yet a professional actor. While classmates were browsing the internet, she stumbled upon the explicit, altered visuals, creating a distressing environment in a space meant for learning. ‘Nothing Excuses This’: Janhvi Kapoor Strongly Condemns Viral Hospital Receptionist Assault Video, Calls for Strict Action Against Accused Gokul Jha (View Post).

Janhvi shared, “I don’t know if it was a deepfake, but it was something like that. I saw a picture of me on a p*rn site. We had IT class in school and boys used to go on those sites for fun. My pictures were on there. So that was a weird experience."
At the time, Janhvi tried to rationalize the violation as an unavoidable "cost" of her family's fame and the digital age. She reflected on her mindset back then, stating, “At some point, I was like - this is the cost you have to pay. There is no morality in a lot of these things with social media." However, she added that her perspective has shifted significantly as she realizes the gravity of these privacy breaches. ‘Sick to My Stomach’: Janhvi Kapoor Reacts to Vadodara Road Accident, Calls Entire Incident ‘Appalling and Enraging’.
The Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari star admitted that the situation has only grown more complex with the rise of AI-generated deepfakes. Even today, Kapoor remains "not at peace" as realistic AI visuals of her - depicting her in outfits she never wore or poses she never took - frequently circulate online. She expressed frustration that these images are sometimes even shared by official news pages, further legitimizing the fabricated content.
Janhvi’s bravery in speaking out sheds light on the urgent need for stricter regulations regarding AI and digital consent. By sharing her story, she highlights that no matter the level of fame, the psychological impact of being targeted on a p*rn site or through deepfake technology is a profound violation of dignity that persists long after the initial encounter.
