Following a prominent female director's accusations of rape, the Alok Nath-#MeToo story seems to have hit a roadblock. As per the latest reports, the police is unable to trace the Hum Saath Saath Hain actor to proceed with the investigation in the case. "There was no one at his house to accept the summons letter issued to him last week," the cops told Mid Day. In the wake of the #MeToo movement in India, Alok, known as 'sasnkari bapu' in pop culture, was the most shocking name to have surfaced as the alleged offender. The case is also special as it's a rare one in which a legal complaint has been filed by the alleged victim.
The report suggests that Alok has not answered the summons issued by the police. "His [Nath's] version is equally important in the case. Last week, we had issued summons to him so that the next level of investigation in the Vinta Nanda case can be initiated but he was not at home. We don't know where he is," a source close to the investigation told the tabloid.
However, the actor's lawyer Ashok Saraogi told the tabloid that his client is out of town for work and that he has been corresponding with him. "The summons was issued but was not served as Nath is not in Mumbai. He will return to the city this week and will definitely visit Oshiwara police station. He is in touch with me. I have not read the contents of the summons," he said. We hope that Alok pays his full support the investigation.
