This week, four new films arrived in theatres but sadly none of them got cash registers ringing at the box office. Tigmanshu Dhulia's long-impending directorial venture Milan Talkies is one of them. The action drama, starring Ali Fazal and south actress Shraddha Srinath, opened to not so great reviews and then got off to a slow start at the ticket windows as well. According to trade portal Boxofficeindia.com, Dhulia's latest offering raked in only Rs 15 lakhs on Friday, day 1. Apart from Milan Talkies, Ritesh Batra's critically acclaimed film Photograph also released on March 15. Milan Talkies Movie Review: Only Sparks, No Fire in Tigmanshu Dhulia's Romantic Drama With Ali Fazal and Shraddha Srinath.

Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in the lead, the film did manage to impress the critics with its beautiful storyline. However, Photograph also couldn't mint big money. But out of the four new releases, Nawaz and Sanya starrer fared the best as it earned Rs 25 lakhs on the first day as per Boxofficeindia.com.

The other two films, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mere Pyare Prime Minister and Aijaz Khan's Hamid, had a tough time finding an audience in the cinema halls and hence recorded negligible collections. Mere Pyare Prime Minister Movie Review: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Wraps an Important Social Cause Inside a Lovely Mother-Son Story!

Coming back to Milan Talkies,  the film was supposed to go on floors back in 2012 with Imran Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. But things didn't work out and Khan backed off from the project after which Chopra also made an exit. Then there were rumours about Shahid Kapoor coming on board but he wasn't interested in doing the film. Later, many more names were associated with the film but eventually, Milan Talkies went into production last year with Ali Fazal and Shraddha Srinath.
