August 15, India's 73rd Independence Day marks three big releases in the Indian box-office. John Abraham clashes again with Akshay Kumar after last year's Satyameva Jayate vs Gold battle. This Independence Day, it is Batla House vs Mission Mangal and the audiences are having a tough time deciding between the two promising Bollywood films.  The only Hollywood release on the day is Quentin Tarantino's ninth and penultimate film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie in the lead. An interesting fact is that all these three releases are based on true events. Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal or John Abraham’s Batla House: Check Out Which Film Is Leading in the Advance Booking Race

The box-office buzz suggests that the Nikkhil Advani directorial Batla House is expected to open with big numbers since many trade experts speculate that the film will be John's career-best opener. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar's multi-starrer movie Mission Mangal based on ISRO's 2014 Mars mission looks scintillating, with audiences raving about its trailer.

Akshay Kumar's previous outing Kesari grossed Rs 150 crores mark at the BO, whereas John Abraham couldn't manage to pull off a super-hit film with RAW(Romeo Akbar Walter). Meanwhile, Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is speculated to not rake in the big bucks as it would target a very niche movie-going audience. Just before you plan to book tickets this Independence Day, here is everything you need to know about each of this week's releases. Akshay Kumar is Bro-Bonding With John Abraham Ahead of Mission Mangal Vs Batla House Box Office Battle!

Batla House

John Abraham's film is based on the Batla House encounter that took place on 19 September 2008 where two Indian Mujahideen terrorists were arrested in the eponymous locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. John's character is inspired by real-life cop DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav who headed the controversial encounter as Delhi Police special cell head.

Director Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham spent a lot of time with the Delhi police officer to get the mannerism and body language of the DCP right since the film would be re-telling of his version of the case. Batla House also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Manish Chaudhari in supporting roles.

Mission Mangal

Who can forget India's achievement of launching the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan)? Since 24 September 2014, the rover has successfully captured more than 900 satellite images of Mars. The mission was awe-inspiring since no other country could successfully launch its orbiter into Mars' atmosphere in its first attempt. That's why Mission Mangal was made – to showcase the intriguing story and struggle of ISRO's scientists who made the historic mission possible.

Another reason to watch this movie is its ensemble cast. Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Sanjay Kapoor, Dalip Tahil and Vikram Gokhale.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is inspired from the real-life experiences of Los Angeles actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double/best friend Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). The story is centred on the murder of the famous Hollywood actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).

This is Tarantino's second last film as his last film would complete his Kill Bill trilogy before retirement. The film also stars Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Al Pacino as the supporting cast.
