Director JP Dutt is back to what he does best - making epic war movies. His upcoming movie, Paltan, is based on the Nathu La military clashes of 1967. The timing of the movie's release is quite right, since we are already going through a strained relationship with our neighbouring country. And like every film of his, Dutta has managed to bring in ensemble cast to make his Paltan all the more epic. So the movie will star Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Esha Gupta, Harshvardhan Rane, Gurmeet Choudhary, Luv Sinha, Monica Gill and others.

The first teaser of Paltan is out and it is more of a trip down the memory lane, as JP Dutta reminds of the two good war movies he made for Bollywood, the blockbuster Border and the underrated, but technically brilliant, LOC-Kargil. As the nostalgia is done away with, JP Dutta announces that he is all set to finish what he considers India's biggest war trilogy. The video then shows a contingent of Indian soldiers singing Vande Mataram as they walk through the snow-laden mountains.

Interestingly the humming music is taken off from the popular theme song of the classic Hollywood movie, Bridge On The River Kwai, which is also set against the backdrop of a war. Here's the theme music -

Wonder why the need to borrow such an iconic tune.

Paltan was in the news recently for the sudden exit of Abhishek Bachchan from the war-drama. The reports claimed that Sonu Sood’s larger screen timing in the period film bothered Jr Bachchan. Some reports also claim that Abhishek did not want to do a multi-starrer movie. We have to say here that Paltan is releasing on September 7, the same date as Abhishek Bachchan's Manmarziyan.
