With the allegations of fraud against businessmen and jeweler Nirav Modi, there were media reports of actress Priyanka Chopra suing him. This was regarding a non-payment for an endorsement deal. For the uninitiated, the state-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) discovered fraud of Rs 11,400 crore in its Mumbai branch. Three diamond companies all of which have Nirav Modi and his family associations have benefitted out of this scam. Following this raid were conducted at the diamond businessmen. In the wake of the situation, it was said that Priyanka Chopra, who has been the brand ambassador for his brand was suing him for non-payment.

The actress's spokesperson has now given out a statement denying these reports. “There are speculative reports that Priyanka Chopra has sued Nirav Modi. This is not true. However, she is currently seeking a legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with the brand in light of allegations of financial fraud against Nirav Modi,” says the statement. There were allegations that Chopra wasn’t paid the amount that was decided between the two parties for an endorsement.

Nirav Modi has been a luxury brand and several Bollywood celebrities have been associated with it. One of the ads that the Quantico star shot for also featured Sidharth Malhotra. Sidharth too has been a brand ambassador and is looking at legal options to get out of the deal. But a source says that too is a speculation. Post the declaration from PNB, the Enforcement Directorate conducted many searches at multiple locations in connection to the money-laundering case.
