Ranbir Kapoor Teases Rama-Parshuram Connection in 'Ramayana'

The Ramayana teaser released on April 2 hinted at this connection during a pivotal sequence where Lord Rama is seen catching a large golden axe, a weapon traditionally associated with the warrior-sage Parshuram. Speaking to Collider, Ranbir Kapoor expressed his excitement about the opportunity, "Lord Vishnu had different avatars. Lord Rama is one avatar and Lord Parshuram was an avatar before Lord Rama, and just to get the opportunity to play them both was fantastic."

To distinguish between the two revered figures, Kapoor focussed on internal spirituality over mere physical changes. "If you deeply understand the spirituality and emotionality of characters, everything starts from there," he explained. Ranbir Kapoor admitted to feeling the weight of the role on his shoulders but clarified his perspective as a performer. "You can't really play him; you are representing your version of Lord Rama as an actor," he said. "The responsibility, the intention, the faith, and the beliefs that I have as an actor and as an Indian... that's where it all begins."

Ranbir Kapoor highlighted that while the film aims to entertain, its primary goal is to share timeless life lessons with a worldwide audience. "It is the greatest epic to come from my country," he noted. "I am excited that the entire world will get to sample this story."
