It is shocking for an average Bollywood fan to realise that two of the biggest movies, featuring two of the biggest stars in the game, ended up being two of the biggest disappointments of 2018. That's exactly how you label the box office performances of Salman Khan's Race 3 and Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan. Both the movies may have managed to breeze past the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, that too within record time. However, both Race 3 and Thugs of Hindostan were met with poor viewer reviews and saw very steep decline after the initial BO euphoria. Since they had been made on exorbitant budgets, Race 3 distributors ended suffering huge losses, and can be expected from Thugs of Hindostan too. Thugs of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 3: Aamir Khan's Film Enters Rs 100 Crore Club But There's Little To Celebrate- Here's Why!

Ever since Race 3 underperformed, Salman Khan (though he refuses to admit the debacle of his film publicly) is taking extra care with his upcoming films. He has refused to do the sequel to Race 3 as well its director, Remo D'Souza's dance movie. Not just that, Salman is also taking extra care in every aspect of his next home production, Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar to make sure there is no repeat of Race 3Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan, Salman Khan's Race 3, Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year - 12 Films That Breezed Past Rs 100 Crore Mark In Just Three Days!

Now as per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Salman Khan might postpone his other upcoming film, Dabangg 3 from its planned scheduled release in Christmas 2019 to the year after that, i.e. in 2020. The report says that Salman Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make sure the script of the film is really good and that's why the postponement. Apparently, the negative reception given to Thugs of Hindostan has unnerved him, as he didn't expect even Aamir Khan to get such a critical and commercial drubbing. Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha Make An Exciting Announcement About Dabanng 3 as Dabanng Completes 8 Years Today.

It would be smart move from Salman Khan, if the report is true. A clear analysis of 2018 box office has shown that audience is getting tired of big stars taking them for a ride with poor scripts that only aim to ride on their star-power. Some of the most profitable films of this year, like Sanju, Padmaavat, Badhaai Ho, Raazi, Stree, have been entertainers that had something different to offer to the family audiences. Now all eyes are on Zero, Simmba and 2.0, to see if they have anything different to offer to the audiences or are only sailing on the hype train.
