Actors Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha's next flick, Section 375 which released on September 13, 2019, sees the actors play criminal lawyer Tarun Saluja and public prosecutor Hiral Mehta respectively. The movie's storyline focuses on a rape case that a costume assistant files on the director of her movie. And while Tarun defends the filmmaker, Hiral fights the case on behalf of the complainant. And while the movie amassed quite the critical acclaim, the same did not reflect in the movie's Day 1 box office collections, which did not even add up to Rs 2 crore. Despite Section 375 releasing alongside a commercial caper, Ayushmann Khurrana's Dreamgirl, reviews and word-of-mouth helped keep the buzz surrounding the courtroom drama alive. While Section 375's Day 2 collections look encouraging, Dreamgirl's day 2 collections also saw a rise by 63%.
