Marjaavaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria and Riteish Deshmukh, got a bit delayed. It was supposed to get a Dussehra release because it has the theme of Ram Vs Raavan wrapped in its story. But that slot has been taken by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff actioner War. But did you know Marjaavaan derives its inspiration from a movie of Amitabh Bachchan that never saw the light of the day? Yes, you read right! John Abraham's Big Gesture for Sidharth Malhotra; Prepones Pagalpanti To Give Marjaavaan A Solo Release - Read Deets

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Milap Zaveri reveals, "Years ago, Subhash Ghai started a film called Devaa with Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) as the hero, and Mr Lilliput as the villain. The project didn't materialise but that idea stayed with me. The anti-thesis is to make a larger-than-life guy short in stature."

We found this really interesting and did some digging. As per a report in TOI, Devaa wasn't just announced, AB even shot for a few days. But then Bachchan and Subhash Ghai apparently had creative differences to such level that the film was shelved. The report suggests that Ghai had sworn he would not make this film with anyone but AB and thus, it never got made. It was reportedly a dacoit movie.

Doesn't Riteish look like a dacoit? Just saying! Riteish and Sidharth reunite for Marjaavan after their last outing Ek Villain killed it at the box office. While there are plans for a sequel to that, it would be interesting to see how these two ooze hatred for each other in this film.
