Comedian Sunil Pal has addressed a viral video showing him being abruptly stopped from speaking during a public event in Mumbai. However, the organiser immediately intervened, refusing to hand over the mic and repeatedly gesturing for the comedian to step down.

The interaction was captured as Pal pleaded, "At least let me say thank you," while the host continued to block him from speaking. Speaking about the encounter, Sunil Pal clarified that he had attended the event to support the literary community and his peers. He expressed disappointment over the lack of basic courtesy shown by the organisers during what was meant to be a respectful segment of the program.

Reflecting on the invitation and the subsequent snub, Pal told News18, "Ye ek shayari ka program tha jisme main gaya tha. Many good shayars had come to this Urdu-Arab event. One of my closest friends had invited me to this event so I went and was having a good time." Pal explained that his intention was never to perform a routine, but simply to show gratitude for the poets in attendance.

"Then they invited me to the stage and handed me a bouquet. Since it was a very good event with amazing shayars, I wanted to say something. All I wanted to say was ‘thank you’ and appreciate the poets there. Unhe samman krna tha mujhe kuki vo deserve karte hai."

Despite his guest status, the situation turned embarrassing when he was denied the chance to speak.

"But the man standing there just refused to give the mic to me. I don’t know who he was but I asked so many times but he didn’t want me to speak at all. Everyone there was watching and recording the video of me on stage because they thought I was being honoured but look what happened.
