Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Drive has been postponed yet again. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, this is the third time that the movie release date has been altered. The movie was initially slated for a March 2018 release, however, it got extended due to the delay in shooting. It was then pushed to September 2018, which in turn shifted to June 28, 2019. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who will return to the field of direction after almost 11 years. A source revealed to Mumbai Mirror, “The post-production is taking longer than expected since the film is high on the action with multiple racing scenes. Since the bar of action has been raised by both Bollywood and Hollywood spectacles in the last couple of years, the visual effects team is taking its time to get the scale right.”
Touted as a fast-paced action entertainer, it was supposed to start a franchise. This is the first time Sushant Singh Rajput is doing a movie with Dharma. Jacqueline Fernandez had played the female lead in a Dharma movie, Brothers, where she played Akshay Kumar's wife. They are also pairing up for the first time in the movie. Both Sushant and Jacqueline are reportedly playing street racers in the movie and will be involved in some exciting action sequences. The source further added, “The final edit has been locked, and presently the film is in the final stage of post-production. Contrary to reports that it is being reshot or will be premiered on the digital platform. Drive is on course to a regular theatrical release in the second half of the year.”
