For the past two years, Tabu has been part of some of the most successful films. In 2017, she was part of Golmaal Again, which was the biggest commercial hit of the year. In 2018, Tabu was part of Andhadhun, which might not have been the biggest box office hit, but was the biggest critical hit of the year. The movie has garnered a cult status already and, boy, the buzz around it refuses to die down. Tabu played the role of a cunning and conniving woman, something we had not seen on the big screen for the longest time. While talking to DNA After Hours, the actress said she believes the movie did not have one protagonist. Sriram Raghavan Talks about The Success of Ayushmann Khurrana-Tabu Starrer AndhaDhun.

Tabu was asked if she thinks movies, today, are more about characters than actors. She said, "In the recent past, characters have become so interesting and important, irrespective of the fact whether the films are mainstream or not. Of course, there are movies that have a main lead, but there are also films where everyone’s a protagonist. In AndhaDhun (2018), for example, you can’t call any one person the protagonist. Everybody drives the plot ahead."

She added, "There’s also been a change in the writing, understanding of cinema and society at large, which has led to this transformation."

Tabu also said, "Actors are getting exciting parts to play, which are not uni-dimensional. They are not being offered what a typical hero or heroine would get to do. I’m sure they are enjoying all that’s been offered to them,"

Tabu will be next seen in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial, Bharat. As per reports, she will be seen playing the role of Salman Khan's mother in the film. Andhadhun, directed by Sriram Raghavan, also featured Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte in key roles.
