Vivek Agnihotri's directorial venture The Tashkent Files is surprisingly doing well at the Indian box office. The film arrived in theatres on April 12 after courting quite a few controversies. Guess that seems to have worked in its favour at the ticket windows. Starring Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty in the lead roles, the political thriller opened to not-so-great reviews from the critics and then took a below average opening at the domestic box office. But slowly and steadily, Agnihotri's film has managed to hold up well at the cinema halls and has done decent business so far. The Tashkent Files Box Office Collection: Mithun Chakraborty's Political Thriller Gathers Momentum, Earns Rs 4 Crore

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and announced the updated figures. He wrote, "#TheTashkentFiles is trending better than Week 1, despite reduced screen count/shows... Crosses *Week 1* total [₹ 3.50 cr] in *Week 2* [on Wed]... [Week 2] Fri 50 lakhs, Sat 75 lakhs, Sun 1.05 cr, Mon 46 lakhs, Tue 58 lakhs, Wed 43 lakhs. Total: ₹ 7.27 cr. India biz."

The Tashkent Files, which also stars Mandira Bedi, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Shweta Basu Prasad and Vinay Pathak in important roles, is based on the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri. Apart from helming the project, Vivek Agnihotri has also written and produced the film. The Tashkent Files Box Office Collection: Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty's Film to End Week 1 on a Decent Note, Earns Rs 2.91 Crore

While Naseeruddin and Mithun starrer has been trending well, the film is likely to go out of theatres soon as Hollywood biggie Avengers: Endgame is all set to arrive in theatres tomorrow, April 26.
