Vicky Kaushal and Yami's Gautam film Uri: The Surgical Strike has turned out to be a crowd puller at the cinema halls. Despite having a non-holiday release, the military drama is on its way to becoming the first blockbuster of 2019. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri also stars Paresh Rawal and television actor Mohit Raina in important roles. Another interesting fact is that movies that usually release in January fail to get cash registers ringing but that hasn't been the case with Uri. It released on January 11 and stormed the box office despite receiving not-so-great reviews from the critics. Uri: The Surgical Strike Box Office Collection Day 7: Vicky Kaushal's Film on Its Way to Becoming a Blockbuster, Has a Fantastic Week 1.

After minting more than Rs 35 crore in the first three days itself, Uri: The Surgical Strike is now heading towards the Rs 100 crore club at lightning speed. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and announced the updated figures saying, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike is a force to reckon with at the BO... Remains the first choice of moviegoers, eclipsing the biz of all films [new and holdover titles]... Day 8 is almost at par with Day 1... [Week 2] Fri 7.60 cr. Total: ₹ 78.54 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh."

He further tweeted, "#UriTheSurgicalStrike benchmarks...Crossed ₹ 50 cr: Day 5, ₹ 75 cr: Day 8..Should breach ₹ 100 cr mark in Weekend 2, as per current trending... Indeed, Week 2 has commenced with solid josh... #Uri #HowsTheJosh."

Since Uri is performing exceptionally well, new releases like Emraan Hashmi's Why Cheat India, Arshad Warsi's Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda's Rangeela Raja are not only suffering at the box office but also finding it tough to even draw the audience to the theatres. Why Cheat India Box Office Collection Day 1: Emraan Hashmi Starrer Off to a Dull Start, Rakes in Rs 1.71 Crore.
