Veeru Devgan, the father of popular Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, had passed away on May 27, as per certain reports. According to Mid-Day, the veteran Bollywood personality was admitted to a hospital in Santacruz, Mumbai, owing to ill-health, where he breathed his last. His funeral will be held at 6 pm on May 27 itself. On behalf of the entire LatestLY desk, we offer our condolences to Ajay Devgn and his family over his sad demise.

Veeru Devgn was a very popular stunt director in the '70s and '80s. He had choreographed the action scenes in popular films like Khoon Bhari Maang, Mr Natwarlal, Kranti, Himmatwala, Shahenshah, Mr India, Tridev and Phool Aur Kaante. He has also acted in a couple of films like Kranti and Singhasan (also producer).

Phool Aur Kaante happened to be the debut movie of Veeru Devgan's son, Ajay Devgn. Ajay's entry balancing himself on two bikes is considered as one of the most iconic scenes in Bollywood.

Veeru Devgan later made his directorial debut in 1999 with Hindustan Ki Kasam. The movie had Ajay Devgn in the lead with Amitabh Bachchan, Sushmita Sen and Manisha Koirala in important roles. Hindustan Ki Kasam, despite being made on a grand scale, flopped at the box office and remained Veeru Devgan's sole directorial effort. Recently, the thespian has been staying away from spotlight owing to his ill-health. Watch this space for more updates on his funeral.
