A 57-year-old dairy operator was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Jaipur’s Sanganer area after a speeding SUV allegedly hit his scooter from behind on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Naval Sharma, was on his way to work when the collision occurred. The SUV driver fled the scene, and police are examining CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and its driver, according to a report.
Accident Near Hanuman Temple
According to police, Sharma, a resident of Buddhi Singhpura in Sanganer, left his home at around 6 a.m. on Saturday on his scooter for his dairy business. The accident took place near a Hanuman Temple in the area close to the Choolgiri Restaurant. The impact left Sharma seriously injured. Passersby alerted the police, following which he was taken to a hospital for treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Driver Fled After Collision
Police said the driver did not stop after the accident and fled the spot. CCTV footage from the area later showed the vehicle involved in the crash. Investigators are collecting footage from other cameras installed along nearby roads to establish the route taken by the SUV after the collision and identify those travelling in it. Police have also registered a case in connection with the incident. A separate report citing police said two teams have been formed to trace the unidentified vehicle and its driver.
CCTV Footage Under Investigation
The CCTV footage that emerged on Monday is expected to assist the investigation. Reports said the vehicle was seen approaching Sharma's scooter at high speed before the collision. Police are examining recordings from multiple locations to determine the vehicle's movements after the crash and locate the person allegedly driving it. Body Handed Over to Family
Sharma's body was taken for a post-mortem examination at Jaipur's SMS Hospital. After the procedure, it was handed over to his family on Sunday. The investigation remains underway as police work to identify the Thar and trace the driver involved in the fatal collision.
