Just like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, or Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were considered as a much-loved hit jodi together during the '70s and '80s. Together they have been a part of many hits like Mr Natwarlal, Namak Haraam, Do Anjaane, Suhaag, Muqaddar ka Sikandar, Alaap etc. During this period, there was also a very strong rumour going on that much-married Amitabh and Rekha had a scene going on in real life too. Rekha Birthday Special: From Utsav to Lajja, 7 Incredible Performances of the Evergreen Diva That We Want to Recommend to a Bollywood First-Timer.

Which is why when the late Yash Chopra did a casting coup of bringing Amitabh, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha for Silsila, it lent to a whole round of gossips that still rule tabloid discussions. Interestingly, Silsila itself was about extra-marital relationships, making this casting all the more layered and nuanced

Anyway, since, the '90s, Amitabh and Rekha have kept a safe distance from each other when it came to movies. In the 21st century, Amitabh had co-starred with some of his former leading ladies, like Hema Malini (Baghban, Babul, Veer Zara), Dimple Kapadia (Hum Kaun Hai?), Jaya Pradha (Khakee), even Jaya Bachchan (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham). But never with Rekha. Or so we thought. Here are five movies belonging to this century that had involvement of both Big B and Rekha, only you never saw it that way!

Sooryavansham

This SET Max favourite had Amitabh Bachchan in a double role, playing a father and son in the film. Both the leading ladies opposite Big B were popular actresses from South, Jayasudha and the late Soundarya.

So where does Rekha fit into this scheme of things? What if I say that Rekha had given her voice to both the actresses in the film? Rekha Birthday Special: The Legendary Actress' Love for Kanjeevaram Sarees cannot be Even and it's as Deep as our Admiration for Her (View Pics).

Parineeta

Vidya Balan had made a scintillating debut in Bollywood with this Pradeep Sarkar movie, based on a Bengali novella, Parineeta by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The movie also starred Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt, while Rekha had a special appearance in the song, "Kaisi Paheli Hai Yeh".

As for Amitabh Bachchan, his deep baritone was heard as the narrator of the movie.

Om Shanti Om

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's delightful ode to Bollywood had a plethora of cameos from some very top stars, especially during the Filmfare portions of the movie and the "Deewangi Deewangi" song.

Rekha appeared in the song shaking a leg with SRK, while Amitabh Bachchan had appeared in the prelude of the Filmfare scene.

Krrish

In Koi Mil Gaya... and Krrish, Rekha had played the mother and grandmother respectively to Hrithik Roshan in a double role.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan, while not making a physical appearance, lent his voice as a narrator for Krrish.

Shamitabh

Speaking of lending voice, Amitabh literally did that for Dhanush in this R Balki film about a mute actor and his voice-lender.

Rekha had appeared as herself during an award ceremony presenting an award to the lead actor in a scene.
