Famous Punjabi singer Parmish Verma was shot at by some unidentified assailants in Mohali, police said today. The singer, who shot into fame with his song 'Gaal Ni Kadni', was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali. "Some unidentified persons fired shots at Parmish last night at Sector 91 in Mohali when he was returning home. A bullet hit his leg," Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Chahal said. The official said that the singer was out of danger. A case has been registered in this regard, police said, adding that investigation was underway.
Reports said that a wanted gangster, Dilpreet, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Dhahan uploaded a status on his Facebook account where he has shared a picture of himself holding a pistol with Verma's picture with a cross drawn on it next to it. “Mein dilpreet singh dhahan sariya nu dasna chaunda k ajj parmish verma de goliya bazian apa mariya.(I, Dilpreet Singh Dhahan, want to tell everyone that I am behind the shooting of Parmish Verma),” the post reads. The post has been shared 41 times on social media.
Verma, who shot into limelight with the foot-tapping number 'Gaal Nahin Kadni', was travelling with a friend in his car when the incident took place. The friend was also injured. Verma's last single Shada was also a super hit, with over 27 million views on YouTube. The song was released three weeks ago.
