As per the comics, Moon Dragon is another adopted daughter of Thanos. He gave her to Shao Monks for teaching. And when Thanos destroyed Titan, he also killed Shao Monks and Moon Dragon is since busy planning her revenge against her adopted father. So during her intergalactic search for the Mad Titan, she reaches Milano where Tony and Nebula witnessed his wrath.

Now, why will Moon Dragon and not Captain Marvel will help Iron Man? Well, the user goes on to explain that since Carol Danvers receives the SOS from Nick Fury, she rushes directly to the Earth to help him in crisis. So the priority for her would be saving the planet than protect Tony. This is where Moon Dragon will come in the picture and save the ones stranded in the space. Of course, these are all speculations and the truth will be unveiled only after the movie's premiere. Meanwhile, another assumption was Katherine being Tony and Pepper Potts' daughter. However, with Gwyneth announcing her retirement from the film's franchise, this seems highly unlikely. So let's wait and watch if Katherine eventually turns out to be Moon Dragon or what?
