The Before trilogy's third film Before Midnight's actress and director Julie Delpy in a recent interview revealed that she refused to be a part of the third series if she was not given an equal pay she would quit the project. Revealing her paycheque for the 'Before' franchise, Julie revealed to Variety Magazine that she was first 'about a 10th of co-star Ethan Hawke's fee and for the second instalment, she was paid half of Ethan's salary. The Before trilogy's last film, 2013's Before Midnight, earned Julie a nomination for the best screenplay Oscar along with Ethan Hawke and the film's director, Richard Linklater.

The Before Trilogy has three films - Before Sunrise (1995), Before Sunset (2004) and Before Midnight (2013). All the three films have been set at nine-year intervals and all the films each film takes place over the course of a few hours, just like the first film.
