Tom Holland and Spider-man fans are currently busy pinching themselves just to realise this isn't a dream but a harsh reality. As per a report in Deadline, Sony Pictures and Disney's collaboration has apparently ended after a profit-sharing issue cropped up between the companies. Post this disagreement, Marvel President, Kevin Feige will no longer produce any Spider-Man movie as Sony is adamant on taking ahead its mantle. Tom Holland's character had so far featured in three MCU movies - Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame with two additional solo outings in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home.

As per their partnership's earlier contract that was drafted in 2015, Marvel owned 5 per cent of the co-produced films' first-day box office collection. However, Disney believes the recent success of Tom Holland's character and a steep rise in their box office collection was a result of him being a part of MCU. Which is why the company today wants a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios and Sony clearly is in no mood to go ahead with that.

While Marvel wants to credit itself for the success of Tom Holland movies, Sony believes a collective team of the actor with director Jon Watts and producer Amy Pascal will be enough to shape the character's future and get it going. As per the actor's contract, he still has one movie left with Sony but a report in Deadline suggests that there are at least two more Jon Watts-directed films starring Holland in the works. After Avengers: Endgame, Tom Holland's Spider-Man Far From Home to Re-release with an Additional Scene on August 29, 2019.

Leaving aside Marvel's future plans for Spider-Man, Sony itself has some great ideas in his kitty. Besides Spider-Man,  there's an upcoming Venom sequel,  Jared Leto's Morbius the Living Vampire; a Kraven the Hunter film; a Silver Sable / Black Cat film; and a sequel to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. And the ones who are still awaiting any confirmation from either of the sides and still have some hopes pinned on their partnership should know that only God can decide to intervene and sort out these differences.
