Let the Hulkamania begin again! Chris Hemsworth has been roped in to portray the role of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan in a biopic. The film will be directed by Todd Phillips, who recently wrapped up shooting The Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. Phillips will be reuniting with Scott Silver. John Pollono will also co-write the script with Silver.

Hogan's biopic deal might be signed by Netflix too as per The Hollywood Reporter. Apart from Netflix, Michael Sugar, the Academy Award winner behind Spotlight will be producing the film. Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper will also produce the film through their banner Joint Effort. Apart from them, even Hemsworth will be producing the biopic along with Eric Bischoff.

Hogan's name in the World Wrestling Federation was prominent in the 1980s considering how he did break records. He began his career in the late 1970s in the Florida wrestling circuit when he started his stint in the WWF sphere. He frequently fought against Andre the Giant as a villainous fighter. With an upscale growth in his career as a wrestler, Hogan's character made it to movies, television, endorsements and video games too. In fact, one of the PlayStation games, Wrestling Mania continues to have Hogan and his classic moves!

Apart from a flourishing career, Hogan's life also saw several personal conflicts that went beyond the ring. He found himself embroiled in a sex tape scandal with the wife of a friend and a radio personality. Got himself mired in a years-long lawsuit that led to the end of Gawker and brought Hogan tens of millions of dollars in a settlement. While he has quite a scandalous life, the biopic won't delve into details of all the personal highlights. Instead, the film would focus on the origin story of Hulk Hogan, the Hulkster and the Hulkamania that followed.

This would be Hemsworth's second project with Netflix as the distributor. Currently, he has quite a few projects in his hand with releases slated for later this year. We'll be seeing Hemsworth next in Avengers: Endgame set to release on April 26th and Men in Black: International, which will release on June 14.
