An Air India flight carrying Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was forced to execute a go-around at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport on Tuesday, September 8, after encountering gusty winds on its final approach.

The aircraft, operating flight AI-1717 from Delhi to Lucknow, aborted its initial landing at approximately 3:45 PM as the flight crew evaluated adverse weather conditions over the airfield before landing safely ten minutes later at 3:55 PM, reports India TodayChongtham Vikram Singh Dies: Rahul Gandhi Condoles Death of Manipuri Singer.

Routine Aviation Procedure

A go-around is a standard safety manoeuvre in which pilots abandon a landing attempt, climb back to a safe altitude, and re-approach the runway. Such procedures are frequently executed due to adverse weather, runway conditions, air traffic, or an unstable approach. All passengers on board disembarked normally following the landing. Air India has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
